Conflict - Due Monday, September 30th

Every good story needs conflict or drama.  Thinking about your book, please list four examples of conflict that have occurred within your text.  Please identify which type of conflict you are describing, as well as which book you are reading.  For example:

I am reading the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  In the book there are quite a few conflicts that arise.  Here are three:

Person vs. Person:  Auggie's mom vs. Auggie's dad arguing about Auggie starting to go to public school.

Person vs. Society: Auggie is dealing with society accepting his facial deformity.

Person vs. Self: Auggie is conflicted whether or not he wants to go to school.

Person vs. Nature:  Mom dealing with the farting nurse at the hospital.

  1. I am reading Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli.
    Here are three conflicts:
    PERSON VS. PERSON: Mars Bars and Maniac had a race because Mars Bars thought he was faster than Maniac but Mars Bars lost.
    PERSON VS. SOCIETY: There are two sides white or the black side and maniac wants to be on both but he doesn't know what else to do.
    PERSON VS. SELF: Maniac doesn't know which side to choose East end or the West end.
    PERSON VS NATURE: The fact that maniac has to live in a park.

  2. I'm reading Maniac Magee and the chacter I choose was Maniac.
    Person vs. Person: Maniac and Mars Bar had a big race.
    Person vs. Society: Maniac is trying to decide which side to take. Amanada or McNab.
    Person vs.Self: Trying to decide wheather he'll take West End's side or East End's side.
    Person vs. Nature: That he has no where to live except the park or somewhere like that.

  3. I am reading Maniac Magee. There a lot of conflicts.

    1. Mars Bars was really mad and depressed about playing rebels since that red head guy scared him. And they're shooting black people.

    2 .Manic facing the West and East end because nobody will take him again.

    3. Manic is confused where to go .

    4.Manic has to deal with the rain storms.

  4. I am reading the book View from Saturday Three conflicts are:
    person vs. person: Hamm Kapp vs. Mrs. Olinski because he wrote cripple on the board.
    Person vs. society: Mrs.Olinski vs. other teachers because they are competing in the quiz bowl.
    Person vs. unknown: Why Hamm Kapp was mean?
    Person vs. Nature: Turtles vs. rain because they are going to get washed away.

  5. Person vs. person- Ham Knap vs. Mrs.Olinski because Ham Knap wrote cripple on the board.
    person vs. self- Nadia was going to choose Disneyland instead of the turtle walk.
    person vs. Nature- Turtles vs. rain because they might get washed away.
    person vs. machine- Mrs.Olinski vs. wheel chair because she couldnt wright on the board.
    person vs. society- Mrs.Olinski vs. other teachers because her method of choosing kids for the quiz bowl are different then theres.
    person vs.unknown- why Ham Knap was mean.

  6. My book is called The Veiw from Saterday. Here are the conflicts in this book. Person vs. persom is Mrs.Oliski and Mr.LeDue,, Mr. LeDue says that his team is going to beat The Souls.Person vs. society is that The teachers say that The Souls will lose but they don't. Person vs. self Mrs.Olinski can't stand up because she is in a wheel chair. Person vs. Nature is that the turtles would have gotten damaged if Nadia didn't save them. Person vs. Unknown is that we don't know why Nadi,s parents got divoced.

    Person vs. Person
    Hamm Knapp vs. Mrs. Olinski because Hamm wrote Cripple on the black board.

    Person vs. Self
    Mrs. Olinski couldn't decide between Hamm or Julian.

    Person vs. Nature
    Nadia's Family didn't want the turtle eggs to get damaged in the rain.

    Person vs. Machine
    Mrs. Olinski couldn't reach the top of the black board.

    Person vs. Society
    Mrs. Olinski's way of creating the Quiz Bowl team is different than the other teachers stratgy.

    Person vs Unknown
    Why Nadia's Parents divorced.

    Person vs. person is that Catherine is having problems with Jason so they have to fix them.

    Person vs. self that catherine was to take care of Json and David

    Person vs.nature Jason weel chair that the pin cones and the stick that are in frount of it.

    person vs. machine Jasons word book.

I am reading Rules And person versus self is that catherine is trying to decide either to go to the dance with kristie or jason.And person verse society is that David was autism. person verse person is that jason was mad that catherine did not draw jason in a wheelchair.Person verse unknow is that he had his communication book and he got a lot more.

  10. I am reading the book Rules by Cynthia Lord. In my book there are some conflicts.

    Person vs. Person: Is Jason and Catherine arguing about the wheelchair.

    Person vs. Machine: Jason doesn't have a lot of word in his communication book so its hard for him to communicate to others.

    Person vs. Self: Is Catherine has to take care of David.

    Person vs. Nature: Is when Catherine was pushing Jason's wheelchair, and there were sticks in front of Jason's wheelchair.

  11. I am reading the book Rules by Cynthia Lord. In the book there are some conflicts her are 5.

    1. Person vs Person Catherine and Jason are fighting because he wasn't in a wheelchair and she didn't draw him in a wheelchair.
    2. Person vs Self Catherine is making the decision between going to the dance with Kristie our going to Jason's birthday party.
    3. Person vs Nature Catherine and Jason are going on a walk and she didn't want to get pin cones and sticks get stuck in the wheelchair.
    4. Person vs Machine Jason didn't have enough words.
    5. Person vs Unknown We don't know why Ryan and Catherine fight.
    6. Person vs Society David has autism and he can't learn anything but people can help keep him good.

  12. I am reading Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick.
    Person vs. Person: Grim and Gram are fighting over whether to get a gun or not.
    Person vs. Society: Max is dealing with society by accepting his huge body and "dumb" brain.
    Person vs. Nature: Freak squirts Killer Kane in the eyes with "acid" to save Max
    Person vs. Self: Max is wondering if he can make it without Freak because he died.

  13. I am reading Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. Here are for conflicts in the book.
    Person vs. Person: Killer Kane wants to see his son, but Max doesn't want to see him.
    Person vs. Self: Max things he is stupid and has no brain.
    Person vs. Nature: Freak has a disease that allows his insides to grow but not his insides.
    Person vs. Society: Max is called by every one "Killer Kane's son" and Max doesn't like it.

  14. I am reading the book Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. Some trouble comes up in the book. Here are four of them:

    Person vs. Person: Max's dad wants to see max again but, Max hates the idea and doesn't want it to happen.

    Person vs. Society: Lot's of people at school thinks Max is dumb (so does Max) and tease him about his father like chanting " Killer Kane, Killer Kane had a kid whose got no brain!"

    Person vs. Self: Max thinks he is dumb until Freak comes along but when Freak dies he still thinks he's dumb.

    Person vs. Nature: Freak and Max get suck in the pond's muddy muck at the bottom while running from Tony D.

  15. I am reading Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. Four conflicts that go on are: Person vs. Person: Max has to fight off Tony D. and his gang. Person vs. Self: Max had to decide weather he liked Freak or not.Person vs. Nature Max got stuck in the mud running away from Tony D.Person vs. Society Max and Freak were made fun of in school and at Iggy Lee's house.

  16. I'm reading Freak The Mighty here are a couple examples of conflict.

    Person vs. Nature: When Freak and Mighty were running from Tony they got stuck in the muddy swamp.

    Person vs. Machine:Freak was hooked up to the telemetry which made it hard to know what would happen when it went off.

    Person vs. society: Max Broke doors and wrecked the hospital which made the police, doctors and nurses mad.

    Person vs. unknown: were not really sure why Killer Kane killed max's mother.

    person vs. person: Killer Kane wants to see Max but Max doesn't want to see him.

  17. My book is freak the mighty and I am doing Max,
    Person vs self: when Max is faced with either saving Lorreta and possibly choking or let Lorreta die and run away with his father.
    person vs person: when he was talking to Tony D. and he started swinging a knife at him.
    Person vs society: when killer cane was in court and he was against everybody else.
    Person vs nature: when Max got stuck in the muck in the millpond.

  18. I am reading Freak the Mighty.
    Person vs. person: Freak and Max run away from Tony D.
    Person vs. nature: Freak's internal organs are growing faster than he is.
    Person vs. unknown: Killer Kane killed his wife for no known reason.
    Person vs. self: Max did not know how to deal with his emotions when he figured out that Freak was dead.
