Compare the main character of your Guided Reading text to a character in another book you have read. How are the characters similar? How are the characters different?
For Example...
If I was reading a Twilight book, the main character Bella might remind me of Katniss from the Hunger games because they are both brave. They both have love interests that are facing major conflict. They are different because Katniss is fighting for her life, and Bella is trying to live forever.
Jeffrey is brave becuse he went to the east end where the black people live. He is athletic because on the cover hes running . Jefrey is mysterious because no one barely sees him.
ReplyDeleteThe main character in View From Saturday is Noah Gershom. The other main character I choose is Brian from Hatchet. They are similar because they are both smart because Brian knows how to survive in the wild and Noah knows how to write calligraphy. They are different because Brian had to live by himself in the woods and Noah did not.
ReplyDeleteMrs.olinski is in a wheel chair and in the book Petey he was in a wheel chair for his whole life.but mrs.olinski was not autistic and petey is autistic.
ReplyDeleteNoah reminds me of Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket because Noah studies and so does she, Tohru gets all A's in every subject and so does Noah.( I asume because he is in the quiz bowl.) The differences are Noah is kind of a nerd, and Tohru knows the Sohma Family Curse that when someone the opposite gender hugs them.
ReplyDeleteMrs.Olinski is just like Leslie Brook in Brigde to Terabithia. They both are confident and sacast. Some diffenties is that Leslie brook is like 11 years old and Mrs.Olinski is like in 40s or 50s. Mrs.Olnksi is a teacher and Leslie is a student in another school.
ReplyDeleteMy character Jeffery reminded me of the character from My Side of The Mountain. They both are brave because they're both on their own. They're both adventurous because they explore the area that they are on.Jeffrey's different because he's in a town and the other character in the woods. And the my side of the mountains character has a dad and Jeffrey's dad died. Jeffrey doesn't hunt and the other character does. Jeffrey likes to run and the other character doesn't really like to run.
ReplyDeleteI read another book called mocking bird and its simalar because the main charectar in Mockingbird has assbigers.So she kind of acts like david Its different because in this book david has it and in Mockingbird its a girl who has a disability.

There different charecteritest are that Catherein dose not have alot of free time and then Judy has more free time butt on her free time Judy also helps and plays with her brother wile on her free time.
Two people that are from different books are Catherine and Annabeth. Annabeth is from the series Percy Jackson. Catherine is from the book rules.

Catherine is my main character and she is like Judy Moody because she helps her little brother and Catherine helps her little brother also.

Amanda Beale from maniac Magee is kind of like Matilda. i think so because Amanda and Matilda both love school and they both love to read.They are different because Amanda is treated nicely but Matilda is treated very badly.Another thing that's different because Matilda has an older brother but Amanda has a little brother.

ReplyDeleteI chose Max from Freak the Mighty and Sprig from Ten Ways to Make My Sister Disappear. They both have a friend they have known for a while. They are different because Max gets his own room and Sprig has to share a room.

ReplyDeleteFreak is like Katniss from the Hunger Games because they are both brave. Freak is brave because he stood up to the bully. They are different because when Katniss is being brave she's fighting for her life. Freak is just standing up to a bully.
The book I am choosing to compare to is Petey. In the book "Petey" Petey is disabled, can't talk, and has no friends. But then a boy comes along and sees kids throwing snowballs at Petey. Petey is old so he can't move himself away. The boy steps in and helps Petey out and tells the kids to knock it off and go away. The boy and Petey later on in the story make good friends and do everything together. This reminds me of Freak and Mighty because Freak helps Mighty and Mighty helps Freak. Freak helps mighty by telling him knowledge because Mighty is "dumb" and Mighty helps Freak by being his friend because he never really had any.
ReplyDeleteManiac and Percy are the same because they are trying to get back their moms. They are both tough and heroic. They are diffrent because Percy is a demigod and Maniac is a human.
ReplyDeleteI am comparing Max from Freak the Mighty to Hagrid from Harry Potter. They are same because they are both big and both not so smart. They are different because Hagrid is able to perform magic and Max can't.
